Hacks

We are very fortunate to have miles of the best hacking with off-road hacking on the farm with spectacular views in North Northumberland. Great to see the spectacular views and wildlife here in Northumberland.

Once you have had an assessment lesson here at Swinhoe Farm Riding Centre, why not try a hack out around the farm through the woods or to St.Cuthberts cave, which includes several breathtaking views of the Cheviots, across to Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle. 

• St.Cuthberts Cave Ride is approx. 2 hours 15 mins, where you will see the dramatic sandstone Cave and spectacular views to the Cheviot Hills (Suitable for Novice riders upwards, must be able to Canter).
• Woodland Ride (1 hour) with beautiful views of Holy Island, Bamburgh and the coastline. Riders must be able to walk and trot on your own.

All of our hacks are off-road. They are fully escorted by qualified coaches and are in small numbers a maximum of six people per group, so that you learn to ride in open spaces, ride up and down hills safely. 

Please book in advance to avoid disappointment! There is limited availability this summer 2024! As Claire is just getting back into the saddle after her ankle surgery.

In the 18 years of running Swinhoe Farm Riding Centre we’ve never offered hacks and lessons at the same time, as there was only Claire Nixon. But since she’s not back in the saddle yet and we have Jennie Read here helping.

On Saturday’s

We are going to have a Woodland Ride on for Adults and Teenagers. When our ponies are busy with Pony Stars.

At 10.45am-11.45am

with beautiful views of Holy Island, Bamburgh and the coastline.

Please note: Riders must be able to canter.
